Rose D'Souza - Precious Memories

‘Rose D’Souza-Precious Memories’ was released by Mr Cecil Noronha, IAS (Retd) on 27 April 2014 at the Carmel Convent, Bangalore.

The 250-page book, embellished with over 300 photographs, is about the eminent Mangalorean Rose D’Souza, wife of Rajakarya Pravina Peter George D’Souza. She was best known for her large family – mother of 17 and grandmother of 64! But more than that, she was a multi-faceted person with unique qualities who touched the lives of people from all walks of life.

This book, edited by a group of Rose’s grandchildren, is a compilation from Rose’s own unpublished autobiographical notes as well as memories shared by her family and friends. It describes her journey from losing both parents at an early age to becoming the wife of a distinguished civil servant, a nominated Member of the Mysore Representative Assembly, a Lay Nun who headed the Daughters of St Francis De Sales and person whose approach to life was far ahead of her times.

It also captures the romance of life in Oorgaum House, the family mansion in Bangalore, where Rose reigned as matriarch until her passing in 1986 at a venerable age of 96.

The book is available against a donation of Rs.1000/- to the Rose D’Souza Memorial Trust. To obtain a copy, please email trust@dsouzaweb.com
